Our Early History

According to club historians, there was RC flying in Gnadenhutten in the 1980's. The exact date that it started has still not been reported. This group was not a part of AMA. The reports state they flew from the current Indian Valley baseball field and had to land by flying over the Tusco manufacturing plant. The High School was not there. Other data to be added as collected. The google address for this site is 290 Chestnut Street South, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.

Again exact dates have not been reported, but at least some of this same group found another site which was located at 3380 OldTown Valley Road, New Philadelphia, 44663. The photo album from that time that we now have lists 1997 as the year that this site was started.  The album and its pictures will be coming soon to this site. The google map doesn't get you to the correct site, but Bing does.  It was at this site that it was Chartered by the AMA in 1992. The exact number of years they were here is reported to be around 12 but again exact details have not been gathered yet. The Google site below shows the old Anderson home at the bottom left, the steep drive to the field to the homes right, and the field has been identified as just above the small line of pine trees.  This field was our field until 2002.
